PaxWorld August 2022

| The End is Near… I can’t believe it’s August. Where did my summer go? Well, autumn is wonderful too. WIP (Whip it Good) I’m halfway through writing Geordie, book two of the Scotsman’s Kilt series. Readers who’ve read Lochlan are asking me to finish Geordie quickly, I guess he’s gained some fans. Geordie is a standalone and yes, Lochlan will drop in with his grumpy self to stir the pot. Don’t worry, this is all about Geordie. What’s Heating up the Kitchen? A busy late spring forced me to plant my tomatoes a little later this year. I picked my first ripe tomato yesterday, and it was soooo good. Nothing is better than produce from the garden. That’s not all that’s growing in the garden. I have a bumper crop of basil. I planted two four-inch basil plants from the nursery in June and have already had a couple of harvests from each. Last month I started basil from seed and they’re coming up fast. Looks like I’ll have basil for a few more months until it turns cool. Why do I grow tons of basil? I love pesto. Here’s a pesto recipe from Bon Appetit. I’ve made pesto so often I do it by taste. Great over pasta, rice, even potatoes. It’s a reminder of why I love summer. What’s heating up your kitchen? Don’t be shy. Send me a recipe to share, with a brief description of why you love the dish and if you’d like, include a photo of you cooking or not.
