Me Coping with Shelter in Place

I’m happy some states are attempting to open up, and even parts of California are loosening their stay-at-home orders. Unfortunately, Santa Clara County, where I live, has extended their stay-at-home orders until the end of May. I get it; we were a hot spot when this all began because of our dense population. I guess the key here is to loosen restrictions in a safe way, to get us back to a new normal and reopen our economy.

You Got to Move It

Actually, this is not something I started since the stay-at-home orders.  I want to talk about exercise. I can hear a collective groan right now.  Okay, try to stay with me. 😊

My partner likes to take walks around the neighborhood and that’s great for him since he’s use to going to a gym to work out. But for many years, I’ve been working out at home. Truthfully, I’m lazy and I don’t want to get into a car and drive to the gym. In the old days I bought videos and exercised at home. And yes, I have a huge library of cardio, dance and yoga CDs. But in the last few years I’ve changed and work out with my favorite instructors via their websites.

These are my favorites

The two instructors I work out with are Leslie Sansone and Tracy Campoli. The advantage to working out with instructors through their websites is that they provide a calendar with suggested workouts for each day and if you’re not feeling that exercise the day they suggest you can also go back to their catalog of workouts and decide what you want to focus on. Lately, since the weather is getting warmer, I’m concentrating on my arms and legs.

Leslie Sansone (Walk at Home) is a fitness and aerobics instructor who has been advocating exercise by walking for more than 20 years. I know it sounds a little dull, and if you haven’t seen any of her videos, you’d think all you’d be doing is walking in place for the duration of the exercise. Walking is the core move but by no means the whole work out. Leslie is one of the most enthusiastic and motivating fitness instructors I’ve ever seen. Working out with her and her crew is like working out with your girlfriends. I especially like the HIT training series.

I also like Tracy Campoli (Total Body Transformation), again a motivating instructor. With Tracy you get more of a personal trainer vibe. The videos are only of her working with you one-on-one. I think because she comes from a dance background, I always seem to get the quickest results out of her videos. I like her arms, legs and butt series, it’s the best way to quickly tone.

I think Tracy’s personal trainer approach and the camaraderie of going to work out class with Leslies’ videos are a good balance. They are always adding more videos, so you won’t get bored working out with the same routines. Tracy will call a live workout where you can join her in real time. Fun Stuff.

It will cost you a monthly fee to access their calendar and library

  • Access to Tracy’s website (Total Body Transformation) can be pricey. Her monthly fee is $39. However, she does do a lot of free YouTube videos and that’s how I initially found her when I was looking for arm exercises
  • Leslie’s (Walk at Home) is more reasonable for a price of $8.25 a month

Best part about the website work outs

  • Don’t need to buy their latest video
  • Access to the work outs is 24/7
  • Work out while traveling / vacation
  • They both have robust social media communities to hang out with other fans.

Be well, be happy

Pax 🙂
