The Rose, Book Two of The Guard Series (Part Two)

This is part two of the guest post from author M.B. Saul. She shares a sneak peek of The Rose, the second book of the exciting Guard Series. Be sure to read part one of the post.

Children of the murdered elite, halflings of the prophesy, and guardians of the fey realm – in the present time, the guard sangréal strives to bring peace to their world yet can’t escape their drowning need for vengeance and the consequences of the past. Splintered by betrayals and unraveling secrets, the guard must find a way to combat the darkest force in existence, a power infiltrating them one at a time.

Thrust two years into the past, Caroline’s survival depends upon the mate who deceived her. In search of an ancient treasure – thought to be the key to defeating the Council – the two must find a way to trust each other as they trek a century back in time, navigating the treacherous wild, and battling fey who will go to any lengths to destroy them.

Meet the New Characters of The Rose

  • Nimue – known most commonly throughout Arthurian legends as the Lady of the Lake. She is a cunning and seductive sea nymph with past ties to Merlin, and a female who has a special interest in securing Caroline’s success.
  • Grier – the oldest son of Reed (the elfin leader of Rowan’s home clan) and brother to Remy (Rowan’s closest confidant within his clan). Grier is known for his sharp intellect and cutting wit, and loves nothing more than outsmarting Willem Leary.
  • The Merfolk Priestess – the first female to serve on the Council of Fey. She is clever, distrusting, and a ruthless adversary to anyone not serving her interests.
  • Brigid – a Wild Woman from a clan in the forests of Italy who provides natural practices that encourage overall well-being and blessings of the harvest. She accompanies Caroline and Rowan on a mission that takes them more than a century back in time.

Thank you all for supporting indie authors. It is invaluable. There are wonderful, moving, heartbreaking, hilarious, brilliant stories out there that rely on word of mouth, honest reviews, loyal fans, and, of course, generous, talented authors like Pax in the indie writing community. So, if you do enjoy an indie author’s work, I encourage you to leave a review or perhaps tell a friend or two. It can make all the difference.
Cheers,
